Wish I Was Wearing Volume 5

I hope y’all have had a good week so far! Today I’m sharing a classic, slightly preppy, camel + black outfit for early fall.

I’ve been a bit overzealous when it comes to dressing for fall, lately. I am just so impatient to wear all my cute, cozy fall things that I’ve been wearing them even though it gets warm in the afternoon. I walked into work yesterday and I had to stop in the bathroom before going into my office because sweater coat + mask + 68-degree weather had me struggling to catch my breath.

Louisiana didn’t really ever get cold, so I think I’m covered on the whole lightweight fall sweaters and shirts front. However, I think there may be a few layering pieces I need to add into my wardrobe. This vest is so cute and will be so good for the weather we’re having now, as well as under my coat when it gets actually cold.

I love this outfit and would love to wear something exactly like this for a fun weekend outing, or even for work!

If there’s one thing I hope I can convince you to pick up from this collage, it’s this lip balm! Back in the Pre Mask Era, I wore it in petal literally.every.day. And it kept my lips in really good shape while providing the perfect amount of color. Since I’ve been masked up, I haven’t worn lipstick in a good long while. I’ve been loving this lip treatment in the color-free form. It seriously IMMEDIATELY transforms your lips, I can’t praise it enough!

If you’ve already got your go to lip treatment, may I suggest these TWELVE DOLLAR earrings from Amazon? I got them in the mail last week and they are amazing quality. I have super sensitive ears and only ever wear real gold earrings. The gold plating on these is great and didn’t irritate my ears at all. Additio\nally, they have a great weight and look so elegant and classic, while still being right on-trend. I love this braided hoop style and have previously only found similar earrings in the $600-1,200 range, which is crazy!

If you’re looking for long lasting flowers, I can’t recommend these Trader Joe’s peony double tulips enough! I *just* tossed my purple bouquet from three weeks ago because I needed a vase and they were on the decline, but I probably could have had them las a full four weeks with some more frequent stem trimming and fresh water (I was only refreshing them maybe once a week). These gorgeous yellow blooms are two weeks old and still going strong!
Does anyone else remember @carly ‘s"I can have f Does anyone else remember @carly ‘s"I can have fun in a blazer" post from...several years ago? It lives rent-free in my brain, lol. This is the same idea, but with a twist:

I firmly believe that I can be professional in a headband!

My work attire definitely skews towards light neutrals, pastels, pinks, and fun, sleek heels (helllllooo @sarahflint_nyc !), I have a naturally chatty personality, and I tend to describe myself as having "resting friendly face" (seriously, ask me how many times strangers have asked me for directions this week alone!). Due to the society that we live in, this means that I am *frequently* underestimated in business settings.

Honestly, this usually works to my advantage! No one expects the girl wearing a headband and a pink cardigan to hold her own on a call with higher-ups and get things done.

I can always tell that I've been underestimated when they get this look in their eyes like,  "oh...this isn't what I was expecting." Will men ever learn that what we're wearing doesn't affect our ability to do our job?

If you've been scared to wear your more feminine, fun pieces to work for fear you won't be taken as seriously, let this be your sign to break out the headband, unexpected blazer, or extra pop of color. You can still be a tough businesswoman in a headband 😉

🌸 Closet space is pretty scarce here thanks to #cityliving so I’ve put together a comprehensive to-do list that will help maximize space and ensure I am ready for the seasons to come.
