Static Nails Review: Are Static Nails Worth it?

Have you seen those ads for reusable stick-on nails all over Instagram? I know I have! They look so cute, but fake nails kind of have a bad rap. Also, I had never met anyone who had actually tried them. I just couldn’t justify $14 for a manicure I might hate immediately! Well, after years of resisting Static Nails’ relentless social media campaigns, I finally gave in. Let me spend my hard-earned money so you don’t have to! Or maybe you do… Anyway, I’m here to provide a comprehensive Static Nails review and answer the question of the hour: Are Static Nails worth it?

Reviewing Static Nails – The Cost

It would not be a Static Nails review if I didn’t start with a breakdown of the cost! To be honest, the cost of Static Nails is what has kept me from purchasing them for years. There are a lot of hidden costs in their “reusable manicure” set, and I want to make sure you are fully informed if you decide to try them for yourself.

Static Nails are fairly affordable at $14-$16 per set. The set is meant to be reusable. However, each set only really comes with enough glue for one application. Therefore, if you really want to make it a reusable manicure, you also need to purchase some nail glue. Additionally, you also want to remove the nails in a way that doesn’t damage the actual fake nail…so you also need their nail polish remover.

Static Nails nail glue will set you back $8. If you already have nail glue lying around, you don’t need to purchase theirs. There’s nothing on the website that makes me think that you need to buy their nail glue.

However, the language on the website made me really, really hesitant to try my own nail polish remover to remove the nail glue. It sounds as though you could potentially damage the nail set by using an acetone-based removed. Honestly, I didn’t think it was worth the gamble to see if my own remover worked, and theirs looked super easy to use.

Therefore, a single Static Nails manicure (assuming you’re going with their most affordable sets) will cost you for the nail set ($14) + nail glue ($8) + remover ($18). So, you’re spending a grand total of $40 for a manicure. Honestly, $40 isn’t too bad! That’s pretty standard for a salon-quality manicure, and as you reuse the set your cost-per-wear goes down significantly.

The Hidden Cost of Static Nails

The one thing that really held me back was the cost of shipping. It was $6 for shipping unless you spent over $55. Honestly, I found this incredibly frustrating because $6 is almost 50% of the cost of a nail set. I think I would have tried them a lot sooner if I could have gotten free shipping on my first order, or if the free shipping threshold was lower.

Are Static Nails Easy to Apply?

I know you’re probably busy, and being able to do your nails at home is partially due to wanting to save time. I get it. Who has the time to drive to the salon, wait for your appointment, then wait for your nails to dry? Not me.

An at-home manicure seems like the best solution, but doing your own dip or gel polish can take a long time. I tried to get into doing my own dip polish, but it was taking me over an hour to do my nails. I turned to static nails to see if they would be easier and less skill-dependent. And boy, did they deliver! After figuring out which nails would fit the best (maybe 10 minutes) the static nails took maybe five minutes to apply. Now that I know which nails are the right fit, I imagine it will only take less time as I get more used to it.

Seriously, this was so easy. I have tried Dashing Diva, Impress, and at-home gels and dip in the past. This is absolutely the fastest and easiest option, and it looks professionally done. All you have to do is apply the glue to your nail, pop on the static nail, hold it down until it sticks, and you’re done.

Are Static Nails Comfortable?

Listen, I’m your girl if you ever want a review on if something is comfortable or not. As someone who is very sensitive, I’m your girl to review anything that might seem slighty uncomfortable.

If you’ve ever gotten a bad dip manicure or used a press-on nail that didn’t fit quite right, then you know that comfort is key. A bad manicure can really hurt! Not only can it hurt as your nails adjust to the size, but they can also be uncomfortable while you type or generally ~use your hands~. Thankfully, Static Nails are super, super comfortable! Not only are they pain-free when you apply them, but they are super comfortable to use as you go about your normal activities. They truly feel like your real nails!

If you generally shy away from manicures because of the cuticle cutting component, have no fear. You don’t need to mess with your own cuticles at all to apply these. OOph, I get the heebie-jeebies just thinking about cutting my own cuticles

Static Nails Review Verdict – Are Static Nails Worth it?

Okay, now it’s time for the official verdict. Are Static Nails worth it? Honestly, I say yes!

If you are used to getting manicures, the $40 start-up cost is not that bad, especially since you won’t need to tip anyone. If you only really get manicures for special events, this would be a great thing to have in your back pocket and will save you in the long run. And if you want to have nice nails but don’t have the time or money for regular manicures, this is a great alternative that requires very little skill!
